Mother's Day is less than a month away. (Sunday, May 12th, 2013 if you were wondering...) If your days are too busy to plan something for your mother or even the mother of your children, relax; we are here to help spark the idea wheel!

Every mom is different. Some enjoy the company of family on Mother's Day, others want peace and quiet. I remember making my mother breakfast in bed and promising not to fight with my older brother as a gift. She loved it; or so she said! Think of all the things momma did for you and remember this is just one day a year to show mom how much you love and appreciate her! Here are four ideas for Mother's Day besides the stand-by flowers and card.

Dinner -- Anton's

Anton's would be a nice place to take mom to for Mother's Day dinner. I've liked Anton's for years. They have a great view out their back window. It's fancy, yet relaxed. Enjoy a glass of wine and enjoy something you haven't tried off their delicious menu. A lot of people will be out for brunch, and that just leads to stress. Waiting for the line to reserve a table takes forever. The number of screaming kids is never ending. Relax with your late Sunday afternoon dinner. They do accept reservations!

This would be great for a mom who just wants the day to relax. Send her to the Spa and you take care of things around the house. If you have siblings or kids, have them help do the laundry, scrub the floor, clean the dirty shower . . . you get the idea! Go ahead and splurge on mom. She deserves it! A one-hour massage plus a one-hour facial (both for under $100 at Massage Envy) Momma will come home feeling like she is floating on the clouds. And when she comes home to see the house is spotless, she will be even more pleased!

If mother nature is nice to us on Mother's Day, taking a walk around Munsinger Gardens would be the perfect place to bring mom. Beautiful flowers, the Mississippi River, even a great place to bring the whole family for an updated photo. Why not make it a date and bring a blanket and a picnic! Weather permitting of course. This spot might be busy, especially if the weather takes a turn for the better and we can finally see green grass and have some flowers bloom! So have patience when it come to parking and walking around or with everyone else there.

Creative Gift -- Art As You Like It

My stand by place for great creative gifts is Art As You Like It. They always have new ceramic goodies coming in so you always have new items to create. Have the kids make a bowl for grandma, have the hubby paint you a coffee mug, and your own kids can paint their favorite item for you. Made with love gifts are always the best in my opinion. Cost doesn't matter when the items are priceless.
