A new fad to help you lose weight, Gourmet Guess, and what’s new on DVD.

Your Gourmet Guess clue for today: The first one of these opened in 1984 when a farmer bought out an A&W and named the restaurant after himself. (Scroll down for the correct answer.)

New on DVD today:

Henry’s Crime – Keanu Reeves plays a guy who takes the fall for a bank robbery he had nothing to do with but when he gets out of jail he decides to actaully commit the crime he served time for an asks former cell mate James Caan to help out. Our Movie Maven Ileana says it’s a darker comedy, but definitely a RENT.

The Beaver – This one stars Mel Gibson who plays a guy that walks around with a beaver puppet on his hand and only communicates with people through the beaver as a part of therapy. Jodie Foster plays his wife. Ileana says this one is a RENT.

Ileana’s C.L.I.P. of the Week this week is The Greatest Movie Ever Sold – Morgan Spurlock’s latest documentary focuses on how much advertising Americans are exposed to. The project was funded entirely by the product placement he pitches to various sponsors all throughout the film. Ileana calls this one a RENT.

Also new on DVD is a Law & Order Box Set of the entire series. All 19 years’ worth of episodes will be released as a box set on November 8 for the L&O aficionado on your Christmas gift list. Problem is, it’s going to cost you $700 for the 104 disc set. Amazon is currently taking pre-orders and you’ll only pay $490 if you order now.

If you’re trying to lose weight and don’t feel like counting calories, how about you try counting bites instead? There’s a new thing called the Bite Counter that keeps track of how many times you move your hand toward your mouth by detecting a certain action you make when you move a fork to your mouth. If you take 20 bites at breakfast and lunch and 40 at dinner and each bite is 25 calories, that equals out to be about two thousand calories a day. What researchers probably didn’t factor in is the fact that my wrist is fairly rigid when I am drink-chewing a bag of Doritos and I generally don’t put the bag down.
