The Powerball jackpot currently sits at an estimated $450 million dollars or a $275.4 million cash value. That's an insane amount of money for anyone to win. In fact, it would be the biggest prize won by a Minnesotan in over ten years. It's no surprise that people are coming out of the woodwork to buy a ticket. But, realistically, how many Minnesotans have won the Powerball in the last 10 years? According to the Powerball website we've had four winners!

Paul White from Minnesota won the Powerball jackpot on August 7, 2013. He's our most recent winner. He split a cash prize of $258,163,064.30.

Thomas Morris took home a cash prize split of $123,602,685.09 on August 10, 2011. It looks like August is a lucky month for Minnesotans.

Paul Rosenau won the jackpot on May 3, 2008. He cashed out at a split of $88,020,951.40. In the words of Chris Janson, "it could buy me a boat."

Michael Hawes from Minnesota had the winning ticket on November 1, 2006. His prize? He split $44,335,812.17.

The Powerball site lists winners that date back to 2003. If we go back that far you'll find that we've had six winners from Minnesota. Mary Beth and David Wenell won in August 2004 with a grand total of $53,118,608.53. Happy Huskers won in October, 2003. His prize was $99,530,384.72.

It looks like Minnesota has a Powerball winner every 2-3 years. So, we're due for another winner soon. According to Debbie Hoffman with the Minnesota Lottery, Minnesota has had 22 jackpot winners since the Powerball started in 1992. Good luck on winning big! The drawing is set for Wednesday, Jan. 6!
