Dance seems to be at the top of every Minnesotan's mind after what some believe was out-right cheating. Officials disqualified five Minnesota high school dance teams after their protest at the state finals over a rival team's alleged plagiarized routine.

The allegation is that the drill team from Utah's Copper Hills High performed a routine last year which Faribault then plagiarized and performed this year. Some believe that Faribault stole it directly from Copper Hills after seeing it on YouTube.

The Minnesota sectional tournaments took place about a week ago, at which Faribault performed the allegedly plagiarized routine. Competing schools were not happy and took their concerns to the Minnesota State High School League. The MSHSL ruled last week that Faribault's routine was OK to perform, and didn't disqualify the team from the state finals. Faribault won first place in Class 3A high kick after a unanimous decision from judges at state finals, after which the remaining five teams stood together in solidarity against the result. State officials then disqualified every other team and refused to announce any further awards.
