ST. CLOUD -- MetroBus shared details of route changes to be put in effect this summer in the St. Cloud area at a public meeting tonight (Tuesday) at City Hall.

Tom Cruikshank, Managing Director of Operations and Planning for MetroBus, says the changes focus on fixing some route deficiencies, extending more to under-served areas, and creating more linear routes as opposed to the current circuitous routes.

"In gathering input from the public, they told us that there are some areas they'd like to see us extend service to and some areas and some areas along some routes that are under-performing," Cruikshank says.

The plan also calls for the integration of the Campus Clipper routes at St. Cloud State University into the base system -- creating year-round service at SCSU.

Cruikshank says the plans will not cause any increase in bus fares and the costs will be taken care of by the state's Greater Minnesota Transit Investment Plan.

The changes will go into effect on August 21st. Cruikshank says MetroBus will be adding six more full-time drivers to accommodate for the changes.
