The interior decor at your local Golden Arches leaves a lot to be desired, but that won't be the case for much longer.

Micky D's is getting a facelift.  No longer will it be bright red and yellow everywhere.  A few arches may be coming down, as well.

The fast food giant plans to drop roughly $1 billion to re-decorate its restaurants, replacing red-and-yellow plastic with faux-leather and harsh overhead lighting with something that creates more ambiance.

This new approach is being done in an effort to modernize the 56-year-old company and give it more of a coffee shop-like feel. With that established, McDonald's hopes that customers will ultimately want to stay longer (and with its free Wi-Fi, why wouldn't they?).

Among the items on the remodeling list are redoing roofs, dividing dining areas and adding flat-screen TVs.

McDonald's is relatively inexpensive, and now with the nation wide interior makeover, would seem to be a bit more "date worthy",  even though I've been wining and dining women at McDonald's for years - being the classy guy that I am.

The best thing about McDonald's is that kids love it!  They love the food, they love the play area, but do you know what many kids do NOT love?

Ronald McDonald, himself.

He never bothered me, but I knew a lot of kids that were afraid of him.  Statistics show that in the U.S. -50% of kids, and 30% of adults - are scared of clowns!

Maybe they need a new face for the company.

I think they should go with a "McPuppy".
