It has officially arrived, hasn't it? With a bang!  Our first snow of the winter season, is proving to leave it's welcoming mark on us.  With that in mind, it's a good time to start thinking about what we need to focus on. Making our winter preparations.

MAKE SURE YOUR CAR IS EMERGENCY WINTER READY

If you didn't do it yesterday, I would make sure by the end of the day you have these supplies:

  • Heavy Blankets
  • Emergency First Aid Kit
  • Winter survival kit including snacks
  • flares
  • hand warmers

TAKE IT EASY ON THE THERMOSTAT

Start preparing to dress warmer at home, so you don't crank the heat.  If you can, buy a thermostat that can be set to daytime temperatures and evening temps to be warmer when you're home, and cooler when you're not.

STAY FIT AND GET ENOUGH REST

Seasonal depression can happen at any time.  Limited daylight, chilly temperatures, being cooped up in the house all day. If you know that you have bouts with depression, try to be prepared to deal with it, so you can recognize when it's happening.

CLEAN YOUR GUTTERS

My gutters have been cleaned out once already this year, but now they are full again! It's time to get back up there and empty the leaves out. You're going to wish you did next year when the leaves, sticks and other debris block the flow of water, and you end up with it in your house.  It's always best to think ahead.  Maybe after this first snow, get outside, and clean them out before the next big storm hits.
