Money...money...money...raising my kids as a single mom, I've had to learn to cut a few corners.  I'm always trying to figure out how to save money when there's really not a lot coming through the doors.

You may or may not agree, but these are some things that you can do to help you put a few dollars back in your pocket, and hopefully save some of them for a rainy day.

Assuming you have a job and some spare change, this list should be able to help you.

GET RID OF YOUR CABLE TV

What?!  My cable?! Let's face it.  Watching HBO and Cinemax, or having the top 250 channels doesn't put food on the table, or money in your bank account.  You could save anywhere from $40 to $150 a month just by getting rid of this bill.  It doesn't mean that you can't watch television. There are lots of channels that you can view for free with an antenna, which in most cases include your major networks and local stations. So you're not going to DIE without it.

GET RID OF YOUR HOME PHONE

It used to be common to have a landline. But if you are in an area that gets cell coverage, you probably don't need both a land line and cell phone.  Choose the one that provides you safety in case of an emergency, but that meets your needs.

RE EVALUATE YOUR CELL PHONE AND WI-FI

Do you HAVE to have a smart phone?  Is it smart?  Will a flip phone work just as well? You can save a lot of  money.

STOP BUYING JUNK FOOD TO MAKE ROOM FOR NUTRITION

How often have you complained about how large your grocery bill is?  I know that junk food is everywhere, but if you'll lay off the cola and chip products which are quite expensive, you'll have more money for nutritional groceries that will provide what your family really needs.  You'll also be healthier in the process.

CAN YOU BARTER?

Maybe you are great at house cleaning...maybe you know all about fixing cars. Sometimes you can do a little trading that will benefit everyone involved.  Be creative, and think of ways you can work with those around you to save everyone a few dollars. They all add up!
