Here we go. It's time to watch the scale. We all know the drill. Here comes one of the best food displays of the year. Thanksgiving.  All the delicious foods are typically a combined 3500 calorie day for an average person! You read it right. And we all know that we do it. What if you could still enjoy all these great delicious foods and keep your calorie intake in step? Here are some super great ideas I found online that I think could help many of us stay on track throughout this holiday season.

ENJOY WHITE TURKEY MEAT

The best news of all? The white turkey meat is great for you! It's lean, with only about 44 calories per ounce, 1 gram of fat, and no saturated fat if it is skinless. What does this mean? It means enjoy the turkey, but stay away from deep fried turkey, and dark meat. Turkey is also a great source of iron, zinc, vitamin B, and potassium. So you don't have to go without the number one dish on the menu! Yay!

ENJOY THE GRAVY

I'm sure you never thought I'd tell you to do this. But you can actually make very flavorful gravies that contain a lot less fat than you think.

BEWARE LIQUID CALORIES

Drinking sugary beverages can add a lot of calories. You can make a glass of wine at 120 calories spread out by adding sparkling water with 0 calories to a glass, and making yourself two glasses instead of one for the same amount of calories.  Keep an eye on drinking calories throughout the day. Stick with water for most of the day.

HAVE YOUR PUMPKIN CUSTARD AND ENJOY IT

By simply making a pumpkin recipe without adding a crust, you'll cut over 100 calories!  There are many delicious pumpkin custard recipes online that you can create for your family and friends that will help them cut calories without even knowing it!

MASHED POTATOES CAN BE AN ENJOYABLE TREAT WITH LESS CALS

Make one of the many delicious mashed potato recipes available online. I found several that add garlic cloves, and replace regular sour cream and milk, with lighter versions that will cut your potatoe calories down to 165 calories for two thirds of a cup. Watch your portion sizes but enjoy them to the max!
