The Starkist Tuna lawsuit started me thinking about all the frivilous lawsuits I've heard throughout the years.  We've all heard stories of individuals winning lawsuits that most of us would never even consider suing over. Here are some of them.

KELLOGG VS. EXXON

in 1998, Kellogg sued Exxon because they thought their customers were confusing the gas stations Tiger Logo, with Tony The Tiger. It was sort of a dumb idea, since Exxon's Tiger logo had been in use for 30 years.  A federal court tossed out the lawsuit. Kellogg then appealed the case and claimed that the Exxon tiger Walked and talked just like Kellogg's tiger.

SCHICK VS. ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC AID

In 2003, Richard Schick sued his former employer, the Illinois Department of Public Aid for back pay for sexual and disability discrimination. He was so stressed by the discrimination that he robbed a convenience store with a shotgun. A jury actually awarded him approximately $300,000. Later, the decision was reversed.  He still received the money, but he first had to serve his 10 year sentence for armed robbery.  My guess is...Richard is out by now????

PAUL SHIMKONIS VS. THE NUDIE BAR

In 1996, Physical Therapist Paul Shimkonis sued his local nudie bar for whiplash from a lap dancer's large breasts.  He felt that he suffered physical harm and mental anguish from the breasts, which he claimed felt like "cement blocks" hitting him. Shimkonis was after $15,000.  He was denied.  Thank you. Justice has been served.

ROBERT LEE BROCK VS. ROBERT LEE BROCK

In 1995, a Virginia prison inmate decided to sue himself after several failed attempts at suing the prison system. Robert claimed that his civil rights and religious beliefs were violated when he allowed himself to get drunk. He claimed that he was idrunk which created his cycle of committing crimes and being incarcerated. He demanded $5 million from himself. However, since he didn't earn an income behind bars, he felt the state should pay it. The case was thrown out.  I guess if you have nothing else to do, this is a pretty enjoyable prison pastime.
