What was supposed to be a three-hour tour (presumably) turned into quite the nightmare for Kelly Rowland and a group of friends, who chartered a boat to take them on a whale watching tour off the coast of Cape Cod in Massachusetts.

An employee at TowboatUS Provincetown confirmed to E! News the the boat Kelly and her buds were aboard became "disoriented in the five-to-six-foot waves and fog that had rolled in." Yikes! Sounds super scary! We'd be willing to bet Kelly isn't in the mood for any whale watching for a long time.

Fortunately for the 'Dirty Laundry' songstress the employee said, "The US Coast Guard was able to triangulate their position." To make matters worse, as the boat Rowland was traveling on was being escorted back to shore, the vessel broke down and had to be towed for four miles to port.

Kelly, her friends and the crew finally arrived on shore at 10PM after being out on the water for 12 hours. (Hope they had sunscreen and water!) The employee said they were "tired and thankful," and added, "they just wanted to get off the boat." We don't blame them!

Despite this ordeal, it seemed as though Rowland had a great weekend in the Cape Cod hamlet Provincetown, posting pictures of her vacay on Instagram. The songstress did not complain once in any way shape or form, she even posted this message on Twitter:

We may have never known Kelly was lost at sea!
