John Mayer Won’t Be Able to Sing for Another Six Months

Maybe this is why John Mayer broke up with Katy Perry via email.

John has had a tough year with his voice. He had surgery last October on his vocal cords and went months without being able to sing. He tried to go on tour, but his problem re-surfaced and he had to cancel.
This summer, John focused on his writing for when he could sing again. He hasn't been able to swoon the ladies with his voice because he still can't sing and it looks like he will have to hold off even longer. In a post on Tumblr, John says he's back on total vocal rest.

"Well, here I am. Silent for the next few months, [and] no singing for probably six, but all signs point to this being the last step in getting to perform again. Back to notebooks and iPad to communicate for the time being."

I could not image not doing what I love for six months. I may not be famous like John Mayer, my voice is pretty important if I want to keep my job talking with you each and every night. Thankfully for John, he can still focus on his music, just the writing versus the performing.

"I hope this finds you each and all very well.  And I know I'm not the only person hoping that six months from now they'll have a chance to do what they love so much, so good luck with your thing too."
