Jaleel White Wants to be Known For His Acting Skills, Not Just Steve Urkel
Jaleel White is having trouble landing roles because people don't see him as a versatile actor.
"Got any cheese Laura?" "Oops, did I do that?"
Jaleel is 34 now and is still cool with being called Urkel, but it's not helping his acting career.
"I don't miss playing Urkel. I really don't. I'm not trying to get away from it or anything like that, but I don't miss the role at all . . . really. I just want to work. I want my daughter to say, 'I know what Daddy does,' not 'what Daddy did.'"
I don't want to burst his bubble, but what has Jaleel really done since "Family Matters?" A prison inmate on "House." Nothing really notable, anyway.
I have no idea how Hollywood works, but you would think it helps him as an actor to have this "famous" role. If it wasn't for Urkel, I doubt I would be talking about him today.
Keep your head up Jaleel, don't give up until you get what you want! In the mean time...
