LESSON ONE- GIRLS NEED TO MAKE THE FIRST MOVE

Dating online...Not particularly my cup of tea. However, for women and men in the 'ABOVE 40' category, it seems to be a fairly good option for meeting quality people.(After a ton of sifting, sifting, sifting and more sifting, that is). Remember, there's no lie detector either. You can find lots of people online that have major addictions that they won't disclose. Definitely the DOWN of online dating. I found a survey that explains how to find the man that you're looking for, and according to the survey conducted by OK Cupid, Women who make the first move, have much more success than women who wait for a guy to do it.  Huh???

LADIES FIRST

According to the survey, men send the first message three and a half times more often than women do.  That being said, it rarely goes well. In my experience? (Guys...Heads up...If your user name has sexual innuendos, you can pretty much forget it.  We can see your user name...you knew that, right)?

When a woman reaches out to a guy, 30% of the time it leads to conversation. When a guy reaches out for the first time, it only goes somewhere 12% of the time.  Interesting!

LOOKING FOR ATTRACTIVENESS?

Also, women end up dating more attractive men if they make the first move. If a woman will initiate things, they'll end up talking with guys who are an average of 6.6 % More attractive than they are. If you sit around and wait for a guy to send a message, you'll end up in conversations with men that are 5.1% LESS attractive than you are.  But..I thought beauty was in the eye of the beholder?  How do you judge that????

WHO SHOULD PAY THE BILL ON A FIRST DATE?

Here's a plus for guys. The study found that women actually WANT  to split the bill on the first date. Really! We do!  Only 17% said they would want a guy to pick up the whole tab. But clearly, there is a disconnect somewhere, because 62% of men say they ALWAYS pay the entire bill on a first date.  I guess it's probably a smart idea to be prepared to pay it...just in case, if you haven't discussed it.

HOW DO YOU POLITELY BOW OUT?

No one wants to be a jerk in the online dating arena. Opening up a door to conversation with someone, who you just can't get a conversation going with, means, it's probably a good idea to shut the door.
