One might think that making $18 Million for one season on "American Idol" would be a good thing, but apparently that's not the case for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon.

Granted this story comes from the "National Enquirer" but I could see the issue. They are saying that Mariah's gig on "AI" that is worth $18 Million is causing some issues with her husband, Nick Cannon. Why would this cause issues? Well Nick is also apart of a talent show on T.V. You may have heard of "America's Got Talent". He is apparently furious that she will be starring on a "direct competitor" to his show. Which I can see being a problem. But, the shows' don't overlap by much and only aired at the same time once this year.

An insider says,

"Privately, Nick [was] gritting his teeth, and dead-set against her taking the job. Right until the eleventh hour, he was begging her to pass on the offer. He was dangling incentives. Diamond jewelry, a luxurious spa vacation, even promising to pay her a one-time 'gift' of $15 million for saying no."

I may not be a huge fan of talent shows, but if you like both "AI" and "AGT" you will probably watch both. Even if they are on at the same time you would tape one and watch the other. Right? If you don't like one or the other, you probably won't watch just because of new judges. I may be wrong, which I'm not afraid to admit; but ometimes the Enquirer likes to make a big story out of nothing. Go figure!

Would you pass up the opportunity for a huge pay raise to compete with your spouse on a small level?
