IS FOOD POISONING CONTAGIOUS?

Recently, I had an episode of sickness that I wouldn't wish on anyone. It started over a week ago, and continued to get worse and worse. Luckily, I decide to go to the Doctor on Monday afternoon, and after discussing my symptoms, we decided it was most likely some kind of food poisoning. But it can be tricky to figure out the difference between the Stomach Flu and Food poisoning.

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS?

The signs are so similar, I'm not really sure what to relate my illness to. But it lasted for over 7 days, and after I started taking the antibiotic, at about the 24 hour mark, I was feeling better. The only symptom?  Chronic diarrhea that got worse as the days went on. I Know. It was terrible. I didn't want to be around myself!

On Day 7, after taking antibiotics, I did get nauseated, and feverish, but after about two serious episodes, I started feeling better. I still haven't eaten, but I'm drinking lots, and so far...everything is good. So the question remains? Flu or Food poisoning?

Stomach flu usually consists of more than just the back door trots. It is accompanied by nausea and/or vomiting, a fever, watery diarrhea, head and muscle aches, and abdominal pain or cramping. Food poisoning is similar, but minue the body aches and pains.

SO IS FOOD POISONING CATCHY?

The answer is YES! What?! I had no idea it was catchy!  I think I should leave the office. Even though Chad does a little bus throwing; I wouldn't wish this on even him. I learned today that salmonella, E coli and norovirus.  It can be spread from germs from vomit or feces...so washing your hands is very important if you become ill.  If it is from spoiled food,it's not catchy. You would have to EAT the contaminate food in order to get sick.

TAKE PRECAUTIONS

If you think you might have food poisoning, it's always important to get checked out. Things should clear up within  3-5 days...If not, it's probably a good idea to take a visit to your Doctor.
