Starring: Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson

Summary: The latest installment of the werewolf vs. sparkly-vampire love story has finally arrived.

The fourth book in Stephanie Myers’ wildly popular Twilight series, which has been split into two films, begins with Edward and Bella’s long-awaited wedding. From there the happy couple ventures down to South America to enjoy their honeymoon, only to have Bella end up pregnant. Since there is no known record of mortal woman giving birth to a vampire child the entire Cullen family is at a loss for how to handle it. While Edward wants to destroy it Bella fights to keep it, even if it kills her in the process. To complicate matters worse, the werewolf pack also sees Bella’s child as a threat and are determined to destroy it and all who protect it.

I count the Twilight series as one of my guilty pleasures. Sure it’s cheesy and hokey but being the hopeless romantic that I am, I can’t help but love it. While the movie captures the essence of the book, the story does stray from it a bit too much for me. I understand that adaptations are made to appeal to a general audience but I like the source material as is.

Trivia: The movie was originally given an R rating due to the sex scene which isn’t even in the book. After some editing it was changed to PG-13.

Rated: PG-13 – For disturbing images, violence, sexuality/partial nudity and some thematic elements

Grade: B
