Starring: George Clooney, Shailene Woodley

Summary: George Clooney plays Matt King, a lawyer living in Hawaii whose wife is in a coma after a boating accident and will not be waking up. When his eldest daughter Alexandra (Woodley) comes home from boarding school, Matt learns that his wife was having an affair. As if having your loved one in a vegetative state weren’t hard enough, now Matt is consumed with anger and sadness over his wife’s betrayal. Matt’s only goal now is to track down his wife’s lover and confront him. Only then can he get closure and move on.

This movie is about accepting those we love for the people they truly are, which isn’t always easy. George Clooney gives an amazing performance as a man with the world on his shoulders trying to keep all the crumbling pieces of his life together. I dare anyone not to get emotional during the final scene he has with his wife in this film. Standing toe-to-toe with Clooney is Shailene Woodley as his daughter Alexandra. Her performance is already receiving critical acclaim and is sure to open new doors to her career. I’m certain we will see more of her in the future.

Trivia: This is the first major film role for Shailene Woodley, best known for her role on the TV series The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Rated: R – For language including some sexual references.
