I'm so happy I decided to check out the "I Love The 90s Tour" on Saturday (10/22) night at the Target Center in Minneapolis. It was a chance to meet some of my favorite hip hop performers, and catch up with old friends I haven't seen in over ten years. One of the guys I was most looking forward to seeing again was Rob Base. Rob and his partner DJ E-Z Rock are responsible for not only being one of the first to mix rap and R&B, but also for bringing hip hop to crossover success in the summer of 1998 with the the mega hit "It Takes Two."

Rob use to tour with Jordan Knight back in 04/05 and that's how we first met. I was Jordan's manager and on stage DJ / background vocalist. On a couple occasions, Rob would ask me to fill in as DJ whenever E-Z Rock couldn't make the show. I've never seen a crowd come totally unglued like they did whenever he hit the stage. Rob Base still commands the audience the same way he did in the late 80s. He's one of the nicest guys in the game. I'm so happy that he's still out there rocking the mic and introducing his classic hits to a new generation of fans.

We spent a couple hours in his dressing room rehashing the past, and learning a new dance courtesy of my daughter and Kyle (Rob's hype man).

RIP E-Z Rock.
