The Cathedral Crusaders fall to the Annandale Cardinals 63-61 in the Section 5AA Sub-Section Finals Tuesday night at Buffalo High School. The Cardinals advance to take on #1 seed Howard Lake-Waverly-Winstead March 7th at 7:30 at Halenbeck Hall.

The Crusaders hit the first bucket of the game to take a 3-0 lead. The Cardinals then went on an 8-0 run to lead 8-3. That run was answered by a 7-0 Crusader run to give Cathedral a 10-8 lead. The two teams traded buckets until the end of the first half when Cathedral pulled away to go into the break leading 34-28. Steven Neutzling lead Cathedral in the first half with 15 points. The leading scorer in the first half for the Cardinals was Matt Miller with 18.

In the second half Annandale was able to finally tie the score with 3 minutes left in the game. Brindley Theisen hit a clutch 3 pointer with just over 2 minutes left in the game to push the lead to 4. Annandale hit 2 free throws with under a minute left in the game to take the 61-60 lead but Cathedral drew a foul and hit 1 free throw to tie the score at 61. With 2.9 seconds left Annandale hit 2 free throws and the Crusaders were unable to answer.

Matt Miller of Annandale lead all scorers with 29 points. Steven Neutzling lead the Crusaders with 20 points. The Crusaders finish the year with a record of 23-7.
