Political candidates in 2015 will have to do better than promising economic upturns or accessible healthcare to earn votes—Britney Spears has officially become campaign currency.

According to GulfLive.com, Louisiana State Rep. John Bel Edwards, who's running for the office of the state's governor, is offering his donors the chance to win Brit Brit tickets in exchange for a financial backing of at least $50. The prize package includes two tickets to the Piece of Me show in Las Vegas, backstage passes, airfare and hotel stay. Plus, you get the peace of mind of knowing you supported the only Democrat in a pool of four candidates.

And, if that wasn't reason enough for Bayou State residents to put their unwavering faith behind Edwards, he also carries the distinction of being personally endorsed by Britney's mom, Lynne Spears, who's his neighbor in Tangipahoa Parish.

"As a teacher managing a busy classroom, I learned that adding a little lagniappe* can motivate to get the job done," Spears wrote in an email to Edwards supporters, according to Louisiana's The Advocate.

(for the record: "lagniappe" is a bonus or small gift awarded to someone upon a purchase. We had no idea, either.)

Do you, like we, think Edwards has got the contest in the palm of his hand? Be sure to support him/enter for Britney tix if you live in Louisiana!
