Halloween seems to get bigger and bigger every year. Costumes get more elaborate, simple yard decorations turn into full displays, and more and more candy gets consumed! Here is a look at Halloween numbers for 2017.

  • 27% of people in a survey said they will be wearing a one-of-a-kind costume, and 20% said they were going for a funny costume
  • 350,000 pounds of Halloween items get donated to Goodwill every year.
  • 49% of Americans surveyed had plans to decorate for Halloween this year
  • For the first time in 11 years a "princess" wasn't the top Halloween costume for kids. This year it is a super hero or action star!
  • 5% of kids in America have a food allergy that can make trick-or-treating difficult. Put a teal pumpkin on your doorstep signifying that you have non-food treats for those kids!
  • The National Confectioners Association is estimating 600 million pounds of candy will be sold for the holiday this year. That is roughly $2.4 billion spent on sugar!
  • 72% of all the money spent on candy will go toward chocolate
  • Reese's are American's preferred chocolate selling  $509.85 million worth last year
