In less than a month it will be the 10th Anniversary of the 9/11 Attacks. I feel it is very important to recognize those that lost their lives and those that stepped up and were heroes.

Gwyneth Paltrow is now being recognized as one of the heroes that saved someones live on September 11th, 2001.

A woman named Laura Clarke was an account manager who had an office on the 77th floor of the World Trade Center's South Tower. Normally her day started at 9am. On that day heading to work, she was about to jaywalk across the street to catch her train in to work. Gwyneth just happened to be driving her car down the streets of NYC and nearly ran into the woman. Screeching her tires to avoid hitting Laura.

"It developed into one of those classic who-goes-first situations.  It got ridiculous.  Then I made eye contact with the Mercedes driver.  OMG it was Gwyneth Paltrow."

Because of the situation, Laura missed her Train. She literally got there just as the doors were shutting. She didn't get to the Towers until after the attack.

"If I had made that train I would have been at my desk on the 77th floor of 2 World Trade Center."

Laura even wrote a letter to Gwyneth thanking her for almost hitting her that morning. Gwyneth's rep even confirms the story, saying:

"Yes, it is true and we have seen the report.  She was deeply moved by Lara's story."

Stories like these often remind that things happen for a reason. Getting stuck behind the slow driver in traffic may have helped me avoid an accident. Forgetting my phone at home may lead me to pay better attention while driving.
