ST. CLOUD -- GREAT Theatre is closing out their 2015-2016 season with a bang, bringing Grease to the Paramount Theatre stage the next three weekends.

Director David Symalla describes taking on one of the most beloved musicals of all time.

"When you first get it, you're like 'oh, this is a big show,' everybody has expectations," Symalla says. "But I think we're going to nail it."

Of course, there is great production value, singing and dancing, but Symalla says they tried to emphasize the emotional qualities of the story.

"A lot of it comes from just talking out the characters with the cast," Symalla says. "It looks great, it's a lot of fun and [the cast] is bonding so well on and off the stage."

The show includes favorite songs like "You're the One That I Want" and "Grease is the Word", which were featured in the 1978 film, but not the Broadway script.

The music is performed by the orchestra under the direction of conductor Kevin Stueven, who is in his seventh season with GREAT Theatre.

"It's a fun spot to be in -- I have the best seat in the house," Stueven says. "[People] should expect a real solid performance -- great music, great dancing and everyone's having a blast."

Grease opens tonight (Friday) at the Paramount Theatre in downtown St. Cloud and runs until April 17th. Ticketsstart at $28 with discounts available for seniors and students.

"Grease is the word," Symall says. "Come see the great work these people put into it and enjoy yourself -- it's a good show."
