Is there really such a thing as a "Beer Belly?"   Drinking excess alcohol can cause you to gain belly fat, otherwise known as, "The Beer Belly".  Although beer is somewhat to blame, it's not the only factor.  Drinking too much alcohol of any kind can increase belly fat, although researchers seem to think that wine might be an exception.

If you like sporting your beer belly as a souvenir, so to speak...then have at it.  But remember that all that extra belly fat can cause a lot more serious health issues the longer you sport it.  To loose excess belly fat, and to keep it from coming back, aim for slow and steady weight loss, up to 2 pounds a week.  The good news is...YOU CAN LOOSE BELLY FAT.    It just takes some effort and patience.  Shedding even a few extra pounds can help you feel better and lower your risk of health problems.

To get started, eat a healthy diet.  Boy...that's something you've never heard before...right?  If you emphasize fruits and vegetables, then choose lean sources of protein, like smaller portions of chicken or salmon, and eat the healthy stuff that you like....How about pistachio's or walnuts for a snack, instead of chips and crackers?  Try using coconut oil for cooking or Extra virgin olive oil, cold pressed.  Yep..You're right.  They are typically more expensive...but you can probably afford it once you cut out all the junk food and extra alcohol that's ruining your health.

Don't forget to include physical activity in your daily routine.  Right now...how about shoveling snow?  Get outside, get some fresh air, and get moving.   If you like to dance, turn a few tunes on and vacuum the house while you dance away those troublesome pounds.  Brisk walking, or aerobic exercise...Whatever it might be...The KEY is to get moving, do something about it, and KNOW that you CAN get your Beer Belly under control.
