ST. CLOUD - There's a non profit organization here in the St. Cloud metro area that's helping to bring a smile to grieving parents. "Owen's Night Out" was formed in 2014.

Co-founder Kimberly Magnuson says they started the foundation to honor her son Owen, who died in December 2008.

She says parents who have lost a child need a brief break, even if only for a night.

What we've learned in the years since Owen has passed is that this grief stays with us all the time, but yet you still continue to live.  And you want to get out and do the things that you like to do.  So we wanted to do the same thing and reach out to other parents and provide that opportunity.

"Owen's Night Out" is funded entirely by private donations. So, if you'd like to help them with their cause, they're always looking for more donations.

Magnuson says if you know of a family that has lost a child, and could benefit from a night out, you can nominate them on their website.   She says they've helped dozens of families so far from all over the state.
