It's been feeling a lot like we're going to get a brown Christmas this year. With temperatures in the 40's this week, I think someone forgot to tell Mother Nature that Christmas is less than a week away.

Regardless of the heatwave, Friday marks the first official day of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. Friday will be the shortest day of the year with only 8 hours and 41 minutes of daylight. The sun rises at 7:54 a.m. and sets at 4:36 p.m.

Oddly enough, there will also be a full moon Friday night. The two events happening on the same day are pretty rare. According to the Farmer's Almanac there won't be another full moon on the winter solstice until 2094.

There's some good news for you if you're a fan of snow on Christmas...the National Weather Service says there's a 20 percent chance of snow expected Saturday night. It's not a great chance, but we're saying there's a chance...it might take a Christmas miracle.
