SARTELL -- Who wouldn't want to go back to school when you get an unbelievable welcoming like several students did at Sartell High School this (Tuesday) morning.

Freshman and other new students received the red carpet treatment as they begin the first day of the new school year.

Sartell Social Studies Teacher Jen Traver says Sabre Splash Day isn't just an adjustment for new students, but it's an adjustment for teachers as well.

"I think it's one of the perks of our job that we do have the first day butterflies, we do have anxiety not know who are kids are or how the school year will be. Days like this for staff is a benefit before the formal first day of class," says Traver.

Today's welcoming of high fives and cheers were all led by students.

And an interesting fact of the day, this years freshman class will be the first graduating class in the new Sartell High School. Which should make for an exciting Sabre Splash Day.

"It's going to be an interesting day because as teachers we will be trying to find our classrooms just like the freshman. But bottom line Sartell School District is something to be proud of and we're excited to show it off," says Traver.

First day of formal classes begin tomorrow (Wednesday).
