Follow Peter K’s Shrinkage
You may remember that over the 2010 Christmas/New Year's week I weighed myself live on the air. The scale screamed bloody murder at 335 lbs. For the next 3 months, I am participating in The Gold's Gym Challenge, where you can transform your body in just 12 weeks and possibly win $75,000. I can't win, but you can, so sign up and workout with me at the Sartell Gold's!
Periodically (I'll try to get it up once or twice a week) I'll upload some video from my workouts. I've been going 3 times since the first week in Jan. I'm now on Day 8 of the training.
I've been helped out a lot by Rusty, the Manager of Gold's Sartell, but I've also been provided advice and training from Joe, Kevin and today's featured Personal trainer: Sloan. This guy is a ripped weightlifter-type sporting a monster head of dreadlocks and a manly-man-beard. He's a great motivator and has a great sense of humor. He's been making it easy for me to forget how tough it is to workout.
Just for reference, I never played sports in high school, unless you count a brief stint in track in 7th grade. When I was in 7th grade I found out I had Osgood-Schlatter's Syndrome which effectively derailed my participation in track or other sports. So I turned into a Frisbee throwing, class-skipping, long-haired, skinny-as-a-rail hippy wannabe.
For years I didn't gain a pound no matter what I ate. But suddenly, in my early 30's, I began to gain weight at an alarming pace. When Jen and I flew to Jamaica to broadcast live from Sandals resorts, the plane ride was the most uncomfortable ordeal I've ever experienced. I decided that when I got back, I would start working out. This is the chronicle of that life-changing decision.
