FOLEY - The Foley Police Department was called to the 200 block of Highway 23 last (Monday) night after 10:00 p.m. for a report of a stalled car in the water on the road.

Officers found several cars trying to travel on Highway 23.

A couple homes in Foley also had water in their basements.  There is no damage estimate at this time.

The Foley police department says the water receded enough by 1:30 a.m. to allow the highway to reopen.  Penn Street was opened shortly after that.

Benton County Sheriff Troy Heck says a few roads are closed.

Two of which are pretty low use roads up in Granite Ledge Township, County 54 and County 68. And then there's also County Road 51 on the south side of Foley, just east of Highway 23.

Heck reminds you, if you see water over the road, turnaround.

Emergency management Director Jim McDermott says the county roads are in better shape today than they were after the storms back in July. However, he says the creeks and streams are high.

They're probably the highest they've been in several years. But, they haven't branched out. What occurred last night happened in a short time period where the water came up quickly and flooded over the roads, then after midnight started going back down.

McDermott says several homes and businesses are dealing with flooding today, including at his office.

He says he's hoping for dry weather now for at least a week.

Northeastern Benton county, as well as western Mille Lacs County, were under a Flash Flood Warning from about 8:15 p.m. until 12:15 a.m.
