Fire Destroys Part of Renaissance Festival Grounds

KARE 11 is reporting this morning that several local fire departments are responding to a fire on the Ren Fest grounds.

According to reports; a shop that serves chicken was engulfed in flames this morning.

The first call came in just after 6am. Fire and tanker crews from Shakopee, Carver, Chaska, and Scott County were on scene. Along with the abundance of wood buildings and straw strewn on the grounds, the availability of water is a major issue at the grounds.

The latest from the KARE 11 website states that "the chicken shack was a complete loss, and another 30 to 40 yards of vendor booths were also destroyed."

Festival officials have said the gates will not open on time and the start has been delayed for clean-up.
