UNDATED - If you are planning to celebrate St. Patrick's Day Friday with some green beer or a little Irish Whiskey, authorities remind to plan ahead before you go out.

The Department of Public Safety says St. Patrick's Day is the second leading holiday for DWI arrests per hour, only behind Labor Day. And, the number of people arrested for DWI typically goes up when the holiday falls on a weekend.

They say there will be extra DWI patrols out on the roads throughout the entire weekend.

During the last six years, five people died on St. Patrick's Day at the hands of a drunk driver.

Here in the St. Cloud metro area there are several taxi companies, as well as the new options of using Uber or Lyft, that will be able to get you home safely after a fun day of celebrating.
