This is one of those stories where you listen to the people delivering the story. Grocery store workers say that THESE foods should not be bought at your grocery store.

PRE PACKAGED COLD CUTS FROM THE DELI:

According to these grocery store workers, the stuff that's sliced up for the deli in the morning, is older meat that is getting ready to expire. But even if it was fresh, they say it won't last as long, because the clock starts ticking as soon as they slice it. And you're supposed to eat deli meat within three to five days.

BAGS OF PRE SHREDDED CHEESE.

You're much better off buying blocks of cheese, because the pre shredded bags have additives like wood pulp to keep it from melting. Yuk. I think I'm going to start buying the block cheese.

PRE MADE SALADS IN THE DELI:

What?! I thought I was eating healthy? But come to find out that many stores use old veggies that are about to expire. I mean...why not? That's what I do at home too. I'm not throwing that stuff away unless I have to.  They add things like olives or hard boiled eggs so you don't notice that everything else doesn't taste as fresh. Okay.  Sounds like what I do at home.

SOUPS IN THE DELI

Apparently many stores save money by using ingredients that are about to go bad. But again...isn't that how we make homemade soup at home. I mean seriously...It's not bad...YET....and who wants to waste food?

Overall, there's no way to tell if the food has been sitting out all day. If it's self serve, it might be contaminated with bacteria and germs, because of all the people opening the lid to smell the soups, hands in the lettuce...okay okay...You get the picture.
