A seven-year-old girl in Tampa, Florida was in her front yard playing last Wednesday, when their German shepherd started acting weird.  And it turned out he was trying to protect her from a poisonous rattlesnake. The dog's name is Haus and they just rescued him from a shelter about two months ago.

Luckily Haus did protect her.  But the dog was bitten three times on the leg.  So they drove him straight to the vet, and gave him anti-venom. It looked like he might die, but yesterday they found out the treatments were working, and they plan to take him home today. The anti-venom is very expensive, and each dose costs close to $600, and Haus is getting about five per day.  Plus it cost $1,000 a day to keep him in the intensive care unit. There's a GoFundMe page established, and so far complete strangers have donated over $50,000 to cover all the vet bills.
