MINNEAPOLIS -- This winter will go down as one of the warmest in St. Cloud's history.

According to the Department of Natural Resources, the average temperature in St. Cloud this meteorological winter (December through February) was 20.9 degrees. That's 6.1 degrees warmer than average, making for the 7th warmest winter recorded in 124 years.

St. Cloud saw 20 inches of total snowfall, which was 6.3 inches short of normal. Statewide, this winter was the 6th warmest since 1895.

Federal meteorologists say the combination of El Nino and man-made global warming contributed to this winter being the warmest ever recorded in the U.S.
