Dinner with Santa Spreads Holiday Cheer to Seniors

ST. CLOUD -- Chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy and plenty of dessert will be served at this year's Dinner with Santa event.

The 31st annual dinner will be Monday at 5:00 p.m., at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites.

The event provides a holiday meal complete with all the fixings to over 600 residents of area nursing home facilities. Event coordinator, Jill Magelssen says everyone gets to meet Santa.

"We have Santas in costumes, every resident that comes gets to have their picture taken with Santa. Which is then developed and provided to their facility."

The event was founded in 1985 and has been growing since. Magelssen says they are still in need of more Santa volunteers for the event.

"For volunteers the only thing we ask is that they come in holiday costume. We have so many Santa Clauses, Mrs. Clauses, Elves and all kinds of folks in holiday attire."
