NEW YORK - The Broadway smash "Hamilton" won the Tony Award for best new musical last (Sunday) night. St. Cloud's Pioneer Place Theater owner Dan Barth says a show this popular has the ability to help theater ticket sales all over the country.

How many times can we to Lion King, and how many times do we need to bring back The Book Of Mormon, and those types of shows?  I think this is really a shot in the arm to really get some great interest in going to the theater.

The hip-hop flavored biography is about the first U.S. treasury secretary.

Barth says he expects "Hamilton" to eventually go on the road and tour across the country.

The Tony-winning show has previously won the Pulitzer Prize for drama, a Grammy, the Edward M. Kennedy Prize for Drama Inspired by American History and Miranda earned a MacArthur Foundation "genius" grant.

"Hamilton" beat out "Shuffle Along," "Bright Star," "Waitress" and "School of Rock."
