Police say DNA evidence led to the arrest of a Cold Spring man whose a prime suspect in the death of a 12-year-old girl whose body was found in a Chicago alley back in 2009. This story totally hits way to close to home.  You never truly know who your neighbors are.  I know this has a lot of the community on edge and everyone's thankful that he's been apprehended.

Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy announced yesterday that 47-year-old Rene Valentin-Matos had been extradited from Cold Spring, Minnesota to face charges of criminal sexual assault and homicide.

Jahmeshia Conner was last seen on November 15th, 2009, catching a bus that would've taken her home. Her body was discovered in an alley. According to the Cook County medical examiner’s office said she’d been strangled.

Her family said police treated their daughter's case like a runaway and could have done a lot more to find her. Valentin-Matos is scheduled to appear in court today (Thursday). For more on the story, click here.
