Great news for chewing gum fans! A new study from the journal Brain and Cognition tells us that chewing gum is "good for the brain" and even increases alertness by 10  percent!  Researchers found that people who were chewing gum had a faster reaction time to a test than those who were not chewing.

We know that dieters are encouraged to grab a piece to chew on when they're trying to distract themselves from eating something they probably shouldn't. Smokers are encouraged to chew gum instead of lighting one up. But to think that it's actually good for your brain?

Relying on gum to be more focused? Hmmm, not sure about that.  There are people who truly cannot walk and chew gum at the same time. I wonder if they were part of this study?
