“Call Me Maybe” Almost Never Happened Because Carly Rae Jepsen Was Supposed to Write a Folk Album
The smash hit "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen almost never made it to the studio to get recorded to then get stuck in our heads.
What happened you ask...Well, Carly was recording a folk album, but her heart just wasn't in it.
"I didn't want to. I wanted to write a pop album. And everyday, I'd go into the studio with every intention of writing a folk album, and I'd have all these pop ideas. At one point I threw my hands in the air and said, 'Well this is what I want to do. Let's break all the rules and just do it.'"
While I agree with doing what you feel is better for you and your career, who was saying that she needed to record a folk song? Her record label is run by Justin Bieber's manager, I think it's safe to say they are fans of pop music!
If we didn't have Call Me Maybe, what would guys use as a new pickup line on us?
If you want to sing along with Carly Rae . . . here you go.
