SARTELL — The Verso Paper Company Plant in Sartell will not re-open and 259 paper plant workers will be permanently out of jobs.
That’s the word this afternoon from Verso officials at a news conference at Sartell City Hall.

Central Minnesota is fortunate to have a few athletes competing in the London Olympics. The opening ceremonies are this Friday night, then the athletes will be getting down to business. So when will we need to be paying attention to how our local athletes are doing?

ST. CLOUD – Competitors in the Can-Am Police-Fire Games put down their guns and hoses on Wednesday afternoon and picked-up their pots and pans for the Chili Cook-Off.

SAUK RAPIDS – Rapids River Days starts tonight (Thursday) in Sauk Rapids with the 2012 Miss Sauk Rapids Scholarship Pageant. It starts at 7:00 p.m. at the high school auditorium.
Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for kids 10 and under.
ST. CLOUD – St. Cloud’s Granite City Days kicks off today (Thursday) with the 39th annual Lemonade Concert and Art Fair. It runs from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at St. Cloud State University.
