Mini diva Jessica Sanchez was born in 1995, so she chose ‘Turn the Beat Around’ by Gloria Estefan on tonight’s episode of ‘American Idol,’ where the hopefuls were allowed to perform a song from the year in which they were born. Sanchez is 16-years-young, but she sings like a seasoned diva with years of experience under her belt.
‘X Factor,’ in effort to revamp the show and boost ratings, cleaned house earlier this year, firing half the judging panel and its host. Names like Beyonce and Mariah Carey were tossed around as possible replacements (and for huge sums of money), and now another female big gun is a frontrunner: Britney Spears. Word is Brit was offered a cool $10 million for a slot on the show.
While much chatter has ensued following Whitney Houston‘s death regarding her estate and how properly she provided for her only child, daughter Bobbi Kristina, it has been confirmed that Houston did indeed update her will and left everything to her sole heir. Not surprisingly, ex-husband Bobby Brown, who is Bobbi Kris’ dad, was left entirely out of the will.
On tonight’s (March 7) episode of ‘American Idol,’ the Top 13 were asked to perform songs by Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder. The girls performed Houston’s hits, while the boys tackled Wonder’s work.
So who was the soul brave enough to attempt Whitney Houston‘s biggest hit, ‘I Will Always Love You,’ on tonight’s tribute episode of ‘American Idol‘ (March 7)? The petite powerhouse known as Jessica Sanchez, that’s who. How’d she do?
Stevie Wonder is not Colton Dixon‘s wheelhouse, since he is an alt rock singer. So he was easily the most challenged of the boys on tonight’s episode of ‘American Idol‘ (March 7) when he sang ‘Lately.’ That said, he bravely and gamely soldiered on. He was flat at some points and sharp at others. Was it a flawless performance? No way. But it was not reason enough to send him home.
Joshua Ledet went first on tonight’s episode (March 7) of ‘American Idol‘ and he absolutely tore through Stevie Wonder’s ‘I Wish,’ delivering a performance so full of soul that we think they heard him all the way up there in heaven. He was grooving while singing and even gave J. Lo a shout out from the stage, mid-song, which was a very nice touch. It was evidence of his charm and he exuded confidence as America watched.
Britney Spears did it. Mariah Carey did it. Now, Jessica Simpson is doing it. The “it” in question is stripping down and posing naked while heavily pregnant for the cover of a woman’s magazine. In addition to baring all on the cover of the April issue of ELLE, Simpson revealed that she is having a girl. Aww! Congrats, Jess.
The Michael Jackson vault has been hacked! The Sony Music archive of Jackson material, including an unreleased collab with will.i.am as well as a recording featuring the late Freddie Mercury of Queen, was compromised by wily computer nerds (or geniuses, depending on your perspective) who illegally downloaded 50,000 digital music files.
While his ex-wife Jessica Simpson may have beat him to the punch, since she is due with her first child in the very near future judging from photos of her massive baby bump, ex-98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey and his wife Vanessa Minnillo (now known as Vanessa Lachey) confirmed that they are expecting their first child. Congrats to the Lacheys, who wed in July of 2011.
Adele was seen with a rock on her finger at the BRITS last week with her BF Simon Konecki, but she grabbed more headlines at the time for flipping the bird when her speech was cut off.
Now, attention is returning to the 10.57 carat De Beers ring that adorned the fourth finger on her left hand. That placement usually means one is betrothed, off the market, engaged, getting married, unavailable, you name it. You can see the rock in the image above. It’s hot, right?
Tonight (Feb. 29) marked the second live performance episode of ‘American Idol‘ Season 11. All the girls performed this evening, with only half able to go through to next week. It was another mixed bag of talent, with country gals and torch singers sharing the stage. We also tried to keep track of how many times Randy Jackson said “Yo” but it was futile. It’s like every other word.
