This is the largest two-day matching gift in Salvation Army history. It comes from a small group of anonymous donors who pooled $2 million worth of matching funds to get Salvation Army Christmas Campaigns back on track in Minnesota and North Dakota.

According to the Northlands NewsCenter, The Salvation Army is getting a special Christmas present of its own with all donations made to the charity in Minnesota and North Dakota on Dec. 20 and Dec. 21 being doubled.

Lt. Col. Robert Thomson, Salvation Army commander for Minnesota and North Dakota says,  “Across the region donations are down 20 to 30 percent, but an outpouring of generosity now can turn things around in every country of both states. That means more lives will be impacted – Salvation Army services are vital to support those in need.”

If you're like me, you use your debit card everywhere. I rarely carry cash with me. Today and tomorrow I'm going to make it a point to have some cash in my pocket to drop in every red kettle I come across. Please consider doing the same!

To double your donation this Friday and Saturday:

• Give at a kettle
• Call 800-SAL-ARMY (725-2769)
