Amy Poehler Responds to Taylor Swift: I’m Already Going to Hell, But Thanks Anyway
Well, Amy got wind of it. And she has something to say.
This whole thing goes back to the Golden Globes when Amy and Tina cracked wise at Taylor's rep as a serial dater, faux-warning her to “stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son” and suggesting she take “some 'me time' to learn about herself."
Lots of us would be delighted to have the Dynamic Duo of Chick Comedy name-check us in a joke, but Taylor? Apparently ... not so much.
When Vanity Fair asked what she thought about the ribbing, she quoted Madeleine Albright (by way of Katie Couric): "There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women."
Her comments lit up the interwebz on Tuesday, and The Hollywood Reporter finally got in touch with Poehler for a reaction. After all, she's active in women's causes and even runs a YouTube channel devoted to empowering young women.
"Aw, I feel bad if [Taylor] was upset. I am a feminist, and she is a young and talented girl," Amy told THR. "That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff."
If church attendance is down this week, now you know why: Everyone's bailing on heaven. Why bother being pious when you can eventually just hang with Amy Poehler in hell?
