I was so excited to audition for American Idol...and then I realized I was over the hill. But that's okay.  This might be your big chance!  Auditions are coming to Minneapolis on June 18th.  They will be held at the Mariucci Arena on the Twin Cities Campus of the University of Minnesota. Minneapolis is actually the first stop of 15 cities set up for auditions for the next season. Other cities being visited will be Nashville, New Orleans, and Kansas City.

Do you think you've got what it takes to have a shot on the show? First of all, you need to be between the ages of 15 and 28.  I had a friend audition in 2006 and just know that you are in for a long day.  People start lining up for auditions at 6 am, and the distribution of wristbands that's needed to audition for the show will begin at 7pm.  As a long time performer, I would recommend that if you are thinking about auditioning, be sure to get plenty of rest the day before the event, and also make sure you are well hydrated.  The last thing you want is to lose your voice during the audition! Bummer! I would also recommend focusing on a few songs that really feature your best vocal qualities, that you can deliver effortlessly.  Good practice would be to set up a video camera, and watch your practice performance to see and hear what you are doing.

If you don't feel like standing in line, you can also submit your audition online through July 1st.

Good Luck, and send me a note to kelly@mix949.com if you are going to the auditions. Chad and I would love to interview some people that will be going to the audition event.

Meanwhile, last night was the 500th episode.  Three contestants left.  Who will be this year's winner?
