From Today's Show...

It's Severe Weather Week in Mn and Jen is letting out her inner-deeper Weather Geek. Each day this week we'll give you a quick bit of info to help you be prepared! You can learn all about Severe Weather Week by clicking here.

Tuesday - Thunderstorms, Hail, Lightning

The typical thunderstorm is 15 miles in diameter and lasts for 30 minutes. Severe thunderstorms produce large hail or winds of at least 58 mph. Some wind gusts can exceed 100 mph and produce tornado-like damage.

HAIL
Most hail is about pea-sized. Much of it is the size of baseballs, and it can reach grapefruit-size.

LIGHTNING
Safety Tips:
- All thunderstorms produce lightning. If you are caught in an open area with lightning around, crouch down immediately! Put your hands on your knees, but don't lie down on the ground.
- Do not use a telephone or electrical appliance when lightning is taking place. A nearby lightning strike can travel through phone or power lines, right into the home.

MYTHS
Heat lightning occurs on very hot summer days and poses no threat. Fact: what is referred to as heat lightning is actually lightning from a thunderstorm too far away for thunder to be heard.

MONDAY- THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WATCHES/WARNINGS

WATCHES
Watches are issued when conditions are favorable for tornadoes, severe thunderstorms or flash floods.
If you are in a "watch" area, continue with normal activities, but also make plans to seek shelter if necessary.

IF A WATCH IS ISSUED
When the National Weather Service issues a weather watch, local weather offices are staffed with extra personnel and state officials are notified. Information is passed to the county and local level.  Counties and cities activate their spotter groups as the threat increases.  TV and radio stations pass the word to the public.

WARNINGS
Warnings are issued when severe weather has been reported or is imminent. Seek shelter immediately if you are in or near the path of the storm. Know the name of the county you live in and the cities around you; warnings are issued by county names, city names and well-known landmarks.

IF A WARNING IS ISSUED
Warnings are disseminated swiftly, using hotlines and other tools, including TV, radio and the Internet.  You can also receive warnings via cell phones, pagers and other methods.  Storm spotters provide constant reports and officials carry out plans developed by emergency managers.  Updates are issued frequently until the threat has ended.

The Evolution Of Brad's Pitt Beard-
Pete was commenting that he believes an alien beard monster has inhabited Brad Pitt. Jen claimed Brad Pitt's Beard left her a voice mail. Which ever it is, there IS SOMETHING freaky going on with Brad Pitt's Beard. We wonder, does he even know it's there? Just look at the evidence below.
