Upsala Lions Club Annual Hog Roast and Corn Boil Pig-out Wednesday, August 20, 2008
The Upsala Lions Club’s 19th Annual Hog Roast and Corn Boil Pig-out is Saturday, August 20 from 5-8pm. Cost for Adults $7 in advance, $7.50 at the door. Youth, (6-12 years old) tickets are $5 in advance, $5.50 at the door. Children 5 and under eat free. The proceeds will be used for Community Projects.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association, in conjunction with the St. Cloud Professional Fire Fighters Local 1712 and the St. Cloud Fire Department, will be conducting its first annual “Fill The Boot” event Tuesday August 19-Thursday August 21, from 7am-10a and 3-6pm each day. St. Cloud firefighters will collect money during rush hour traffic in their boots. The Stearns County Household Hazardous Waste truck will travel to cities around the county, collecting hazardous products. Items that you can throw into the truck include: paints, cleaners, chemicals, and fluorescent bulbs. Items that will NOT be accepted include: used motor oil, furniture, tires, and appliances. The service is free for you to use. The next stop will be in St. Joseph on Saturday, August 23 from 9 until 1pm at the Public Works Garage.

There will be a Brunch-Silent Auction-and After Party “Ben” efit for Ben Schoenecker, on Sunday, August 24. Brunch will be from 10am-1pm and the Silent Auction will be from 9am-2pm at Eden Valley-Watkins High School. Ben’s “After Party Fundraiser” will be held at the Valley Inn beginning at 2pm. There will be a variety of outdoor music so please bring a lawn chair. Ben was seriously injured in a diving accident on June 28. Proceeds from the “Ben” efit will be used to offset medical and other expenses. An account has been set up at the State Bank of Eden Valley for monetary donations.
