ST. CLOUD - The Red Cross is helping seven people after a vehicle crashed into their apartment. The St. Cloud Fire Department says it happened at about 3:15 p.m. yesterday (Sunday) at 410 14th Street South.

The driver of the vehicle was not hurt. There was no one in the apartment at the time of the incident.

The driver was 41-year-old Biriye Osman of St. Cloud. He had a valid learners permit, and had been practicing driving and parking in the parking lot with a licensed driver. He inadvertantly accelerated rather than breaking, causing the vehicle to crash into the building.

It appears that just the one unit was damaged, but more investigation is expected today.

The Red Cross says there were two adults and five children living in the apartment unit.
