Last week, legendary Minneapolis music venue First Avenue announced its first show in a year.

Last week was an exciting one for Minnesota music enthusiasts. Following Governor Walz's news Friday that Minnesota music venues can reopen within guidelines, First Avenue announced its first show in a year and first of 2021.

"Getting through the anniversary of a tragedy is hard," First Ave posted on Facebook. "With COVID, it didn’t come to everyone on the same day, and we’ll all recognize different anniversaries. For First Avenue, we remember our last show on March 12, 2020 with Chelsea Cutler in the Mainroom. Considering the anniversary of this day, it feels extra special to announce new shows for this fall with Dinosaur Jr. and Purity Ring. It’s nice to have a moment of joy to share with you all."

While certainly news-worthy, First Avenue is hardly the first Minnesota venue to announce upcoming shows in 2021; both Xcel Energy Center and Target Center have been announcing rescheduled shows; the Minnesota State Fair has announced some of its Grandstand Stage performers for this year; Twin Cities Summer Jam has also revealed its rescheduled dates and full lineup for the three-day festival.
