ST. CLOUD -- A California man faces a drug charge after authorities say he was found with 50 pounds of marijuana in central Minnesota.

A Sauk Centre Police officer made a traffic stop Saturday after noticing the driver of a car had not signaled a lane change and had tinted tail lights.

Court records show the driver of the car, 31-year-old John Nilmeyer was not making eye contact and was breathing rapidly. The officer also noticed the smell of raw marijuana in the car.

A police dog was called in and the officer uncovered 50 vacuum-sealed, one-pound bags of pot located in three large duffel bags.

Nilmeyer was booked into the Stearns County Jail on suspicion of felony 3rd degree drug possession. The maximum penalty for the charge is 20-years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
